The Hyack Festival Association has a rich history.
Since 1971, the Hyack Festival Association has organized a range of events to help preserve the city’s history and traditions and to help foster a positive image and promote the City of New Westminster both locally and internationally.
Throughout the year, Hyack events and festivals are a grand opportunity to bring the community together in a fun-filled atmosphere, at the same time recognizing our time honoured traditions and exceptional community spirit.
In cooperation with the City of New Westminster and supported by our stakeholders and community partners we put on high-profile events such as the Hyack Fraser Fest, Zest of New West, the Christmas Parade of Lights, our well-known Hyack Festival week with historic events that stretch back over 130 years and of course the highlight of the week our International Parade as the largest in BC. In addition, the Association also plans and organizes the Miss New Westminster Ambassador Program and the Hyack Antique Car Easter Parade. We can proudly say that Hyack Festival Association events are now enjoyed by over 400,000 local citizens and visitors from around the world annually.
As a member of the Pacific Northwest Festival Association the Hyack Float travels to festivals and participates in community parades promoting New Westminster to the hundreds of thousands of people who line the parade routes, plus a million more who watch on major Canadian and US television stations.
In 2010 we will continue to serve as New Westminster’s Community Event Planning organization and look forward to working closely with the City of New Westminster on exciting new opportunities. We intend to increase visibility of the Hyack Festival Association and City of New Westminster across the Lower Mainland and into the Pacific Northwest.
We are a non-profit society and a registered charity (charitable registration no. 11905 6992 RP0001).
